If desired, you can even try using toothpaste or baking soda mixed with water as an alternative cleaning solution. Just make sure not to rub too hard when scrubbing stains off metal since that can cause more damage.

If you’re worried about damaging your coins, one of the safest ways to clean them is to use a coin cleaning kit.

HOW TO CLEAN CORRODED COINS

First

• Soak coin in vinegar for 24 hours. This will remove the black tarnish and corrosion on your cash!
• If you don’t have any white or apple cider vinegar, use one bottle of regular distilled vinegar and add a teaspoon of salt to help draw out more dirt and corrosion from the coin.
• You can also use lemon juice if you prefer not to use vinegar; however, it is not as effective at removing heavy spots on your pennies as this method is.

Next

• Ensure to clean off all remnants of wetness with warm water after soaking (also dry completely) before adding baking soda paste next because this could cause additional spotting later when we wipe away everything with a toothbrush.
• Add some baking powder/soda to a bowl of water and mix it to make your paste.
• Apply the baking soda mixture with an old toothbrush, being careful not to scrub away any details on the coin’s surface, which you don’t want removing!
• Use a soft circular motion when applying so as not to scratch the metal either.

Lastly

• Use vinegar again for this next step because it will help remove refined grains of dirt or corrosion that remain after the brushing process is complete.
• Soak coins in vinegar solution again until all tarnish appears gone (allow 24 hours).
• After soaking time is up, dry off completely before placing them back in an airtight container if you will store them somewhere else later on.

Refined details are still unclear?

• If some more refined details are still unclear, you can try using toothpaste or baking soda paste once more to clean up the surface.
• If this doesn’t do it, then you might need to use fine #0000 steel wool instead for your final cleaning step. This will help remove any stubborn rust deposits so they don’t damage the coin further in future handling or if left untouched over time.
• Be very careful when doing this last bit, though, because it could scratch away details on coins!
• Repeat the same process to another side of the penny only if needed after completing the first side with the steps above, making sure both sides are fully dry before storing them back into an airtight container.
• If none of these works, use a coin cleaning kit and add water with a few drops of dish soap.
• Try avoiding touching surfaces again until the next time you get ready to work on these pennies again.
• Seal container to keep all your pennies protected, organized, and separated from other coins! (You could also store these in paper coin sleeves instead if you don’t have any airtight containers.)

HOW TO CLEAN SILVER DOLLARS

First

• Soak silver dollars for at least 24 hours first before beginning the scrubbing process with a toothbrush because this will help loosen up dirt/corrosion already on the surface of each coin; allow them to dry completely after soaking time is over before applying the paste.
• You can use regular baking soda or mix some water + dishwashing liquid soap into a bowl until it forms a thick white mixture that looks like frosting.
• When ready, Add more salt again as you did before if you feel this would help more.

Next

• Apply the mixture using a toothbrush to the coin’s surface until all corrosion is removed, being careful not to remove any details or designs on the front side of cash that you don’t want to be scratched away.
• Allow time for the paste to dry completely after application so it can work effectively without damaging surfaces further in the scrubbing process (you could speed up the drying by fanning off with a hairdryer).

Lastly

• Avoid touching areas again until next time when getting ready to clean coins because dirt/residue will be transferred back onto them from hands easily during handling.
• Be sure both sides are thoroughly dried before storing each one into the airtight container!
• When silver coins look dull and tarnished, a good way of cleaning them is by soaking the coins overnight in milk. This will help remove stains from either side of the coin.

First impressions matter, especially when it comes to your home. Once the front door is open, your guests are either met with soothing scents or unpleasant odours that will forever be in their memory. No one wants their house to be referred to as the house that smells weird. This isn’t to say that there aren’t everyday smells that tend to permeate the house and refuse to leave. For instance, any habited house is bound to have a smell associated with what happens in that house. Just because everyday living has a smell, doesn’t mean it cannot be reversed.

Numerous unpleasant smells can plague your home. Sometimes the stench might be from the most unlikely places; e.g. under the dishwasher where a piece of meatloaf fell last week. Whichever way, for every smell that may arise in your home, exists a couple of DIY solutions to resolve it. After all, our great grandparents didn’t have Swiffer and Clorox wipes to clean up spills. •    Baking Soda: It is natural for any kitchen to have a smell but it definitely should not be the smell of rotten mouldy food or burnt toast and most of all not your trashcan. To get rid of rank smells, place a baking soda box in the fridge or mix with essential oil to clean your trashcan.

No one turns up their noses at the exquisite smell of fruits, plus they really eliminate stenches from the house. This solution involves ¾ of boiling water, slices of fruits (we prefer lemon and grapefruit), a couple of sticks of cinnamon and voila! Leave to boil on low and add water where necessary.

•    Homemade diffusers: all you require for this is a mug that can heat up, boiling water, a candle warmer and essential oil. Add 3-4 drops of essential oil into the mug with an average amount of boiling water. Then place the mug on the candle warmer. It is as simple as that. In the winter months, we recommend using Eucalyptus oil as it clears out the sinuses after a day in the cold and gives your home a mentholated scent

•    Candles: some air fresheners cover-up rather than eliminate smells but candles are an inexpensive but ideal way to get rid of smells. Even if you have plain candles, adding a few drops of lavender oil can change the smell of your home.

•    White Vinegar: like baking soda, white vinegar is one of the easiest and best ways to eliminate odours in the home. For carpet odours, mix white vinegar with water and spray onto the carpet. Placing a cup of white vinegar in a room absorbs the musty stench of that room.

House smells have a way of latching on to carpets and furniture but it doesn’t mean that with proper care, the smells cannot be eliminated. The best part of these DIY house cleaning solutions is that they all involve materials that you already have at home. Take back control of the smell of your house.

In case you haven’t heard, time is the only asset you have that you can’t acquire any more of. Of course, there have been increasingly more tantalizing breakthroughs in the longevity field, but nonwithstanding a phase-shift in the lifespan of humans, it seems as though we have a finite amount of time on our hands to use as we please.
