The Blue Palace Movie Theater opened up at NW 23rd Avenue until 2009, when it closed down for good.

The Northwest District Neighborhood is also home to the Portland State University campus, which was established in 1946 after it acquired land that used to be known as Vanport College but then later turned into a public university for college students looking at pursuing either bachelor or master degrees along with other programs including undergraduate certificates and continuing education courses.
