”South Waterfront Lower Tram Terminal
The South Waterfront is a neighborhood in Portland, Oregon. It spans from the Willamette River to SW Moody Avenue and SW River Parkway to NW Naito Parkway.
The Lower Tram Terminal project is a new transportation hub that will service the South Waterfront neighborhood. The terminal will include a tram station, bus stops, and bike racks. It is being built in collaboration with TriMet and the City of Portland.

In 2002, ZGF Architects LLP began designing the first buildings for the South Waterfront. These plans were completed in 2005, and construction began shortly after that. The first building was completed as the LEED Platinum-certified Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) Center for Health & Healing, which opened to patients on May 29, 2008.

Things Not to Do at South Waterfront Lower Tram Terminal
Of course, there are many things not to do in the South Waterfront.
For example, The Portland Aerial Tram is an excellent place for a fun ride, but it doesn’t offer any observation deck or outdoor area where you can relax and enjoy the scenery. Therefore, if your goal is to take pictures from above, you might be better off looking for other options.
The Tram also doesn’t offer any food or drinks, so bringing your own is recommended! The Tram does feature a small cafe that sells snacks and beverages, but the prices are significantly higher than what you’ll find elsewhere in Portland. If you’re visiting OHSU, it’s probably best to plan your visit around eating lunch or dinner at the hospital.
Another thing to be aware of is that parking can be difficult in this area, so arriving by foot or bike might be your best bet. A few paid parking lots are available, but they can fill up quickly, so arrive early if you’re planning on driving!
How to Get to South Waterfront Lower Tram Terminal
There are several ways to get to the South Waterfront.

Finally, if you’re coming from downtown Portland, the South Waterfront can be easily accessed by taking the Portland Streetcar. The streetcar runs every 15 minutes and stops right in front of the tram terminal.
