One can often see bald eagles flying around or perched high atop trees looking out into the water below while nesting season begins in early autumn.

What not to do on Titlow Beach?

Do not park your car and walk across the street. It’s dangerous, and there are much better spots for a picnic or fun day at the beach with kids available on site. For example, you can use one of six reservable shelters to set up shop. Or, if you’re feeling more adventurous, pack a lunch to eat by rocks that lead down into Puget Sound (you’ll be able to spot eagles flying overhead).

Just make sure no one goes near water without proper supervision! If someone does go under, don’t panic, it happens all the time here because people underestimate how strong currents can get when they aren’t expecting them; however, it’s always best to be safe than sorry if the water is too rough, steer clear. The beach also has a pretty groovy feature: a theater with seating for up to 150 people, perfect for watching shows during the Summer Concert Series or playing in a local band at one of Tacoma’s many festivals.
