About the Downtown Tacoma

Downtown Tacoma is a beautiful urban setting with many options for food, entertainment, and shopping. With so much to do in this area of town, it can be overwhelming when you want to discover everything that downtown has to offer. This article will highlight some great spots around the city, including restaurants, bars/lounges, art galleries, and more! Whether you are looking for something fun to do on date night or need an option for after-work drinks, these places never disappoint!

Just like any other city, Downtown Tacoma has a rich history. It was the largest and most prosperous city in Washington State for quite some time before Seattle became more popular. Despite being settled later than several other major cities of Puget Sound, it still has an impressive number of historical buildings worth seeing. We’ll focus on just three main highlights that should be at the top of your list if you only have a limited amount of time to spend here.

One aspect that makes this place unique is its architecture with Art Deco elements combined with classical styles from Europe, including French Gothic Revival Style or Italian Renaissance style ones. All these little details come together to create something truly unique! For example, take one look inside Pantages Theater.

Additionally, Downtown Tacoma has a lot to offer in terms of shopping. Be sure to visit the Historic Winthrop district, known for its turn-of-the-century architecture and shops with unique items made by local artists or designers who take inspiration from various cultures worldwide, including Africa, South America, India, etc. The best part about visiting this place? It’s free!

And last but not least, Tacoma Art Museum that features rotating art exhibits, as well as permanent collections that have been put together over many decades, are worth checking out if you want an opportunity to see incredible works of modern artists whose names should be familiar even to non-art fans (e.g., Andy Warhol or Alexander Calder).

Facts about Downtown Tacoma

Tacoma was first incorporated in 1875, and it has been a bustling port town since its establishment. With plenty of industry and a wealth of jobs to be found throughout the early 1900s, people flocked from across the country to this burgeoning city on Puget Sound’s waterfront. Its downtown district has always been home to some seriously inspiring architecture that celebrates everything our region is all about- both past and present! Today, you will find more than 100 buildings standing due to historic preservation efforts spanning back decades ago when local leaders started worrying about what might happen if they didn’t intervene before these structures were lost forever.
