History of Macleay Park
Macleay Park was originally an area that belonged to the Native Americans. Simon Macleay donated the park in 1872, and it became the first public park in the city of Portland.

Macleay Park is located across Terwilliger Boulevard from Peninsula Park, which offers playgrounds, sports fields, and a rose garden.
The Audubon Society of Portland’s Nature Sanctuary is located just south of the park and offers nature trails, wildlife viewing opportunities, and educational programs.
In addition, Forest Park (the most significant urban forest in the United States) is located about five miles west of Macleay Park and provides more than 80 miles of hiking trails.
How to Get to Macleay Park
Macleay Park is located at 2960 NW Upshur St, Portland, OR 97210, United States. The park can be found at Southwest Macleay Blvd and Terwilliger Boulevard. From I-405, take exit #13 for Terwilliger Boulevard. Drive south on Terwilliger Boulevard for about two miles until you reach the park entrance on your left.
Drive west on Burnside Street from downtown Portland and cross over the Willamette River. Turn left onto Southwest Macleay Boulevard and drive a half-mile until you reach the park entrance on your right.
The park is open from sunrise to sunset. Admission is free.
