Oregon Historical Society

The Oregon Historical Society in Portland, a museum and research center dedicated to the history of Oregon, has been open since 1898. History of Oregon Historical Society

The Oregon Historical Society was founded in 1898 to preserve the history of the Pacific Northwest. The group’s original headquarters were located on SW Park Avenue, but by 1914, they moved into a new building at 1200 SW Park Ave which is where they are today. Since 1891 when it opened as Multnomah County Library, this location has been open for business.

The building was designed by architect A. E. Doyle and his architectural firm, Doyle & Merritt. In 1973, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places.

Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden is a beautiful place to visit in the Portland area. The Olmsted Brothers firm was hired to design the gardens, and they started work in 1919 by laying out roads, trails and planting trees where necessary. In 1928, Portland Parks Commissioner George W. Ingram developed an additional plan for small garden areas designed around pools of water with rustic bridges crossing them.

In 1995, the garden was added to the National Register of Historic Places. Today, the garden is maintained by Portland Parks & Recreation and is open to the public from dawn to dusk.

Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden is located at SE 28th Ave and Taylor St in Portland, OR. It’s easily accessible by car or public transport! There are parking spaces available for cars directly outside the garden entrance. Suppose you’re arriving via the TriMet transit system. The bike lane is also available.
