The Rainier Beach / Atlantic City Beach Neighborhood is located in the southeast part of the city. This community was named after a large park included in this neighborhood called ‘Rainier View’ or ‘Beacon Hill Park’ as it was formally known. The location has been inhabited for many years. Early on, these were mainly fishing communities because of their proximity to Puget Sound, where Native Americans lived and still live today. As time went by, more immigrants from other parts of Asia came seeking refuge and made up most of the population here at first. Still, now other races have found homes here too, such as African-Americans and Caucasians, so diversity reigns supreme throughout the area!
The Rainier Beach Neighborhood has been known as one of the most racially diverse neighborhoods since it became part of the city after World War II; however, due to gentrification over recent years, many longtime residents have moved away or are unable to afford their homes here anymore. Things to do in Rainier Beach / Atlantic City Beach Neighborhood
Rainier Beach is a neighborhood in Seattle, Washington. It’s located on the southern shore of Lake Washington between Renton and Seward Park along S Henderson St, bordering Martin Luther King Jr Way S to the west. The area has excellent views of Mount Rainier across Lake Washington to the east. Rainier Beach was once covered by vast wetlands that have since been turned into parks with sandy beaches for Waterfront activities like swimming or kayaking. These areas are popular destinations for bird watching as well!
One state park there is Longfellow Creek which includes nature trails through marshlands where visitors can spot many species, including ducks, tundra swans, geese, bald eagles, and more. Further north from here, another wetland stretches along the shore of Lake Washington, where visitors can walk along a boardwalk that crosses through swamps, marshes, and forests. It’s called Foster Island Trail Park, which spans close to five miles (eight kilometers). Boat ramps throughout the area allow for easy access onto Lake Washington as well!
A great place to take in views of Mount Rainier is from Seward Park. A day trip away, you’ll also find historic Pacific Beach with its quaint shops and restaurants just 30 minutes drive. Or head into downtown Seattle on the bus for a day of shopping, dining, and sightseeing at famous landmarks like Pike Place Market and the Space Needle!
