The Southwest Hills Neighborhood is one of the most sought-after neighborhoods in Portland, Oregon. This neighborhood is home to some of the wealthiest and most affluent people in the city and many residents that are more diverse than those found in other neighborhoods. The houses here range from large mansions to small bungalows and offer a variety of amenities for residents, such as pools and tennis courts.

 

About Southwest Hills Neighborhood

 

The Southwest Hills Neighborhood is located in the hills west of downtown Portland and offers some fantastic views of the cityscape and Mount Hood. Residents enjoy easy access to all that Portland offers, including great restaurants, shopping, and entertainment venues. The Forest Heights neighborhood is a small area of detached homes on large lots, most with commanding views of downtown Portland, Mount Hood, and other hills to the east. Hillside Terrace was platted in 1911 as an upscale suburb with winding streets, elegant Craftsman homes, sweeping lawns, and towering trees. The Homestead Valley neighborhood grew up around a dairy farm from 1906 to 1958.

 

Today it is a mix of residential areas, light industrial businesses, and parks. Markham Woods-Mount Scott takes its name from two parks: Markham Park and Mount Scott Park. South Burlingame is a small residential neighborhood between Macadam Avenue, Terwilliger Boulevard, and Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway. Westmoreland was platted in 1892 as one of Portland’s streetcar suburbs with winding streets, large lots, and stately homes with yards that are generously proportioned even today.

Southwest Portland is generally considered a good area for families. Homes in the community are protected by several neighborhood associations that help keep crime rates low while maintaining order on their streets and sidewalks.

Most real estate listings found throughout this area consist of older traditional style single-family homes built between 1914-1918 when William Ladd developed the first streets within the community. These include craftsman Bungalows, Queen Anne-style properties, and Tudor revival buildings, among many others, such as the American Four Square home style, which is very common around the community.

 

What are some amenities of Southwest Portland?

 

The park includes tennis courts, and an indoor swimming pool opens all year round except for August, when it closes for about one month due to renovations being done on-site. There is also a large play area complete with slides, swings, and even climbing walls inside Crown Park, where kids can let off steam after spending several hours studying or playing games indoors during rainy weather outside.

 

There are several restaurants near the park, making it an excellent place for families to meet up after school or on weekends. In addition to Crown Park, there is another smaller green space called Quatama Park which features restrooms and some play equipment, and open grass areas where people can sit down and relax during their free time.

The neighborhood is also home to several parks, including Sylvan-Highlands Park and Quatama Park. Sylvan-Highlands Park is a large park with a playground, basketball courts, and more. Quatama Park is smaller, but features restrooms and some play equipment along with open grass areas where people can sit down and relax during their free time.

 

Activities and Events in Southwest Hills Neighborhood

 

Anytime you need a break from the hustle and bustle of city life, escape to Portland’s Southwest Hills neighborhood. This area is home to some of the most beautiful parks in all of Oregon that will help you take your mind off things for a bit while still enjoying everything that makes this place so great. The Sylvan-Highlands Neighborhood Association hosts several events throughout the year, including an annual block party where residents come together to meet their neighbors and celebrate what it means to live here with good food, games for kids, and plenty more entertainment options available on one street! If there are any concerns about safety or anything else within the community, just let them know. They work hard every month, helping coordinate efforts between members who can then help resolve any issues.

 

The Sylvan-Highlands Neighborhood Association also organizes events such as a movie in the park night during the summer where families can gather together and watch a movie while relaxing on blankets in the grass. Other events include barbeques, open houses to welcome new residents moving into the neighborhood, and other holiday parties for kids during Christmas time or Halloween celebrations, to name a few of many community-based activities that take place throughout the year. George Himes City Park

George Himes City Park: This park is one of my favorites in George Himes City Park there’s a playground, creek access, amphitheater, and more. It’s also home to Movies in the park during the summer!

 

Movies in the Park: Every summer, the City of Portland hosts a free movie series in different parks around town. Stephens Creek Crossing is one of my favorite locations for this event – it’s a great park with a playground, creek access, and more.

 

Shopping and Dining: Southwest Hills has some of Portland’s best shopping and dining. You’ll find everything from independent boutiques to national chains, as well as restaurants serving up cuisines from all over the world.
